The 2022 Game Awards - My Recap to Another Year in Gaming
But I wanted that free Steam Deck for Christmas though... 😢
On December 8th, the tenth installment of The Game Awards was held in Los Angeles. It's often proclaimed to be the Oscars of Gaming, but it's more of a promotional event than something that propels the industry.
But then again, I'm not sure if the same could be said for the Oscars as well.
Anyway, I usually don't watch the Game Awards since the last five years of the show have been nothing but a sh*t show, but Valve was giving away a free Steam Deck for every minute of the show, so I figured I'd give it another shot this year (and win that Deck)
Sadly, I didn't win any Steam Deck but I do remember one particular person winning one--MILF Hunter. Cool name bro. GlendorBoy is a way cooler name IMO—and sadly less dirty—but I digress... so back to The Game Awards....
Here were the highlights from the event, including how many awards God of War Ragnarok won and how many awards it lost:
First, the Preshow, including announcements and winners:
The first announcement was a DLC to Dead Cells, but with Castlevania's Richter and Alucard joining the adventure. Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania. I'm not familiar with Dead Cells as an indie game franchise though, but it sounds like an amazing combination of two great franchises with the crossover of Castlevania. I'm sure it will be an unforgettable experience!
Okay so, the first award of the night was Best Mobile Game. And it went to Marvel Snap. A collectible card game wins Best Mobile Game. I mean... come on..even people like you and me know that's a ridiculous choice. Not a fan. But it was a fun little card game so I guess it's okay.
Then we got three reveals, back to back.
First one is Vampire Survivors, out now for iOS and Android devices. The app is free, but if you want to make the most of your triple treasure chest, you’ll have to fork over some cold hard cash.
